Did the world shake and cataracts and hurricanes spout? Or did Congress agree on the pliancy of “In God We Trust” beyond our green back: adorning our walls, hearts and “souls” this past week. Ah, the trials and tribulations of Congressmen (and I use that term loosely) across the nation hobbled together by the small issue of faith and state. During the 1950’s “In God We Trust” became the watermark of the Star Spangled Banner; visuals of Khrushchev pounding the heel of the Russian Bear was a worthy cause for God’s protection against the Godless communists as seen through a grainy screen of black and white 10″ television set.
Fans of our Forefathers have united, but no advice betters that garnished by Ghandi, “it’s better to have carried out you’re own rules imperfectly than the rules of another perfectly.” The husk of 21st century rides on the back of imperfection; gripping, writhing, twisting, and yielding to no one but a thought saddled upon improving the mistakes, endorsing the successes and swiftly moving on.
The rallying cry of America is Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Puh-leaze allow it so as it is far more aspirational.
