All innovations need a business model and Instagram’s is becoming ‘Instasell’ (your pictures

to advertisers). It’s all part of the bigger brief of getting people to pay for their social media and it begs the question, ‘Should I stay or should I go?’ when Instagram snaps the new model into place.
This is going to be a fascinating conundrum. By using social media we’re all keenly public about sharing our lifestreams, so is the same true for our photo collections. Does the selling of our images add an air of excitement to using the service or will it make many recoil, not just out of a sense of ‘privacy’ – a word that is not comfortable in this context, but also the fact there is no personal financial benefit if the images are commercially used for marketing.
